Ignite WordCamp Seattle – Speakers Needed
Posted by Josh Harrison on September 1, 2009 · 5 Comments
Getting speakers for WordCamp Seattle has been both enjoyable and time-consuming. We have attempted to get a wide range of topics centered around WordPress. Since the event will only be one day, there are topics that will not be covered. Lots of them. To compensate for this, we thought it would be fun to have an hour filled with short talks about WordPress in the Ignite format we have all come to know and love.
For those of you who are not familiar with Ignite, each speaker prepares a talk with 20 slides. The slides auto-rotate each 15 seconds giving each speaker 5 minutes to say what they need to say. Short and to the point. Take a look at some presentations given in the past.
But we need your help to make Ignite WordCamp Seattle work. We are looking for volunteers to give presentations on anything WordPress. Given the short amount of time for each presentation, each one needs to be focused on something very specific to WordPress. We will be accepting submissions for the next few weeks. No submissions will be accepted after 5 PM on September 16. The organizers of the event will then choose 6-8 entries to give their presentations at WordCamp Seattle. As you may have noticed, the timeline for this does not leave a lot of room for error. But I’m confident we can make this a fun and successful part of WordCamp Seattle.
And if you have an idea of what would be a good topic but don’t want to prepare the presentation, leave your idea in the comments. I’m sure somebody would be up to it.
Update: submit your presentation idea to wordcampseattle at gmail dot com or you can use the form on the contact page.

Hi Josh,
How do you feel about someone submitting more than one idea – 3 or 4 different ideas, say – with the intention of presenting just one of those? You all are the best judges of what would work relative to the submissions you like from other people. I can think of several topics that might be good.
Mark,
More ideas the better. We would love to hear what they are.
I see the deadline was the 16th, but if you’re still in the market for a speaker…you can view Lou Radjas web page and let me know what you think. I will send you a formal email after I hear back from you.
Thank You for your time,
Lora Terry
